Door/Window Sensor Not Triggering
Table of Contents
If your sensor isn’t triggering as expected, don’t worry — a few quick checks usually solve the issue. Follow these simple steps to get your system back on track:
Quick Troubleshooting Checklist
-
Test the Sensor
Run a sensor test to confirm it's properly connected to your panel.
Tip: If the sensor hasn't been added (or "learned") into the panel yet, it won’t respond when opened or closed.
-
Move the Panel Closer
Try placing your panel temporarily closer to the sensor to reduce signal issues. -
Replace the Battery
Swap out the battery with a fresh CR2032. A weak battery can cause unreliable performance. -
Check Sensor Placement
- Ensure the sensor is installed indoors — away from weather, moisture, or extreme temperatures.
- Confirm the sensor and magnet are within 1 inch of each other when the door or window is closed
-
Check for Bypassing
Make sure the sensor isn’t being automatically bypassed when arming the system.
You can review this in your panel’s history.
