How to Bypass Sensors
Table of Contents
Sometimes, you may want your system to stay armed while allowing certain doors or windows to remain open, or simply to ignore a sensor that’s having issues. That’s where bypassing sensors comes in.
Bypassing a sensor lets your alarm system temporarily ignore a specific sensor while keeping the rest of your home protected. It’s perfect for situations like:
- Leaving a window open for fresh air
- Hosting a backyard BBQ and needing the back door accessible
- Managing a malfunctioning sensor without disabling your entire system
Two Types of Bypass Options:
-
Temporary Bypass
Bypasses sensors for one arming cycle only (resets when you disarm the system) -
Long-Term Bypass
Keeps a sensor bypassed indefinitely, until you manually turn it off
How to Bypass Sensors Temporarily
- Open the sensor(s) you want to bypass (like a window or door)
- The panel will say:
- “Hang on, your [sensor name] is open”
- Or “Hang on, you have multiple sensors that are open”
- Tap “Check Status” to view a list of open sensors
- Choose your arming mode:
- “Bypass, Stay” or
- “Bypass, Away”
- The 60-second exit delay will begin, and the panel will announce all bypassed sensors
- These sensors will remain bypassed until the system is disarmed
How to Bypass Sensors Long Term
- Tap “Settings” on the top right of your panel
- Enter your 4-digit Master Code
- Select “Sensors”
- Tap “EDIT” next to the sensor you want to bypass
- Toggle “Long Term Bypass” to ON
This sensor will remain bypassed until you repeat these steps and turn it OFF
Bypassing Sensors Having Issues in the App?
If you're having trouble bypassing a sensor in the app:
- Try removing the sensor and then adding it back again.
This often refreshes the connection and resolves the issue.
