Alarm Permit

Some cities and counties require an alarm permit before emergency responders (like the police or fire department) can be dispatched. Here’s how to make sure you're covered and avoid potential fines or delays in response.
Do I Need a Permit?
Most likely, yes!
It is your responsibility as the customer to register your alarm system with local authorities. Some municipalities will fine alarm users for not properly registering their systems.
There are a few municipalities that require the company to register the customers' alarm system, in which case please notify us.
How to Register:
Registration is easy and typically done online. Here are the steps you can follow:
1. Check Local Requirements
Contact your city or county offices—or visit their official website—to find out if a burglar or fire alarm monitoring permit is required in your area.
Not having a required permit may result in fines or no emergency response.
2. Complete the Permit Application
If a permit is needed, use the following information in your application:
- Alarm Company: SELF-INSTALLED
- Monitoring Company: COPS Monitoring
- COPS Address: PO Box 836, Williamstown, NJ 08094
- COPS Phone: (856) 629-1111
