Door/Window Sensor not Responding
Table of Contents
If your door or window sensor isn’t working as expected, don’t worry — we’ll walk you through some quick and easy steps to get it back on track.
Step 1: Check the Magnet Alignment
- Make sure the magnet and sensor are lined up correctly, with a gap of less than 1 inch.
- If everything looks good but the sensor still isn’t responding, move on to the next step.
Step 2: Reconnect the Sensor
- Remove the sensor from your control panel.
- Re-add the sensor to the panel.
- Test it again — this often solves the issue!
Step 3: Check for Metal Interference
Is the sensor installed on a metal door or window? Metal can sometimes interfere with signal communication. Here’s how to test it:
- Remove the magnet from the metal surface.
- Gently separate the sensor and magnet to simulate opening/closing.
- Watch your panel — if it shows the correct “open” or “closed” status, the sensor is working!
- Try reinstalling the sensor on a non-metal surface for better performance.
Step 4: Replace the Battery
Still not working? Try a fresh battery in the sensor.
Then, repeat the open/close test. If it starts responding again, the battery was the issue!
