Overview

This guide provides step-by-step instructions to help you troubleshoot common Key fob issues. It covers basic solutions for problems such as false alarms, low-battery alerts, and arming/disarming or SOS triggering issues.

Follow the steps provided to help restore your key fob to normal operation. If the issue continues after completing the troubleshooting steps, please contact our Support Team for additional assistance.

Key fob False Alarms

Regularly testing and maintaining your devices helps prevent false alarms. In most cases, a low battery or device damage is the root cause of irregular activity.

Troubleshooting False Alarms

Make sure the Key fob's SOS function isn't being triggered accidentally:

  1. Check how it's carried. Avoid keeping it in a purse or bag alongside other items that could press the arming buttons together and trigger the SOS.
  2. Avoid accidental presses. Be mindful of situations where the buttons could get pushed unintentionally.

Key fob Low Battery

If your panel shows a "Key fob Low Battery" message, replace the battery as soon as possible to keep the device working properly. Need to order a new one? See How to Order Replacement Batteries.

How to Replace the Battery

  1. Disarm your system before starting.
  2. Remove the screw on the back of the remote.
  3. Open the cover.
  4. Note the (+) orientation of the battery before removing it — the new one needs to go in the same way.
  5. Slide the old battery out of the battery clip.
  6. Slide the new battery into place.
  7. Put the remote back together.

Confirming It's Working

Arm and disarm your system using the remote to confirm the Key fob is functioning correctly.

Key fob Not Arming/Disarming/SOS Alarms

If your key remote isn't triggering correctly, we recommend testing it first. Note: if the Key fob hasn't been learned into the system, the panel won't respond when it's pressed.

If Arming or Disarming Isn't Working

  1. Perform a sensor test — confirm the Key fob lights up when pressed and held for over 2 seconds.
  2. Move the remote closer to the keypad to rule out range/signal issues.
  3. Replace the battery.

If SOS Isn't Being Received by the Keypad

  1. Perform a sensor test — confirm the Key fob lights up when pressed and held for over 2 seconds.
  2. Move the remote closer to the keypad to rule out range/signal issues.
  3. Replace the battery.
